This unfinished, and for the moment abandoned, project began in 2010. The design of each square copies advertisements from ARTFORUM magazine, although here, the cultural currency of well-known artists and galleries are supplanted by musings on the creative process, expressions of doubt, or small epiphanies.
Like a perpetual corpse, they have undergone a series of re-workings, only to be shelved for several months each time. Finally, they were produced as large-format photographs (44” wide), shot in situ, documenting the studio as a site for experimentation and failure, of intuitive process versus carefully planned execution, and of formal design versus emotional chaos.
